Compared to nubuck, suede has a longer nap that is visible to the naked eye. Nubuck is more matt and softer. If a thin layer of wax is added to the nubuck, it looks similar to leather. However, there is no mistaking the properties of nubuck and suede - both are thinner and therefore more susceptible to damage, especially from moisture. Rain and puddles on the road are definitely not going to make your suede half-shoes or nubuck ballerinas happy!
